This is a residential course on foot/snow shoes covering the 4 day MSC Back Country Avalanche programme, with the difference of being taught with a bottom up approach needed for alpine instructors &/or trampers. This course includes an intro to weather and avalanche forecasting, snow stability and travel in winter avalanche terrain.
Inclusive of food, accommodation & Instruction (Avalanche rescue equipment is available for hire on the course).
This coures is provided by the New Zealand Snow Safety Institute and is based at Temple Basin in Arthurs Pass. The instructors on this course are industry current NZOIA Alpine 2 instructors who also hold ARM L6/Avo Stage 2 and will assist with including relevance to the outdoor industry where possible.
This course can count as prerequisite avalanche coures to NZOIA Alpine 1 and is ideally timed for the 2022 assessment.
