Canyon Leader
The holder of this qualification can lead and manage trips of up to 4 hours duration in easy vertical and aquatic canyons (V2A2I)* in normal conditions. In addition the canyon leader can assist a NZOIA Canyon 1 or 2 holder in moderate vertical and aquatic canyons (V3A3II) in normal conditions. Two day assessment.

Canyon 1 - Guide
This qualification is for people who guide canyons with short pitches, e.g. less than 30 metres that can be negotiated using simple rope descent techniques, and with moderate physical and water difficulties – up to about V3, A3, 2. Three-day assessment.
Canyon 2 - Senior Guide
This qualification is for people who guide canyons above A3, V3, 2 at normal flows, who teach and guide all aspects of canyoning, and who organise and supervise canyoning programmes. Three-day assessment.
